Blood Is Thicker
Chapter 1:
“Music and writing were two things he relied on when the rest of the world was a mess. In his songs, he could control everything. There was no cancer. No goodbyes. Not unless he decided it.” (Langan, 6)
This line stuck out to me because it gave me more perspective on how writing, and especially music comforts the composer. My boyfriend is a singer/songwriter, and he has told me time and time again that he trusts nothing and no one more than the music he writes and creates. I never understood how someone could trust a thing over a person, but now I have a better understanding of why that may be. Creating music is a way of controlling a piece of his life, especially when everything else is not going the way that is expected.
What is up with Savon? It's like he has a chip on his shoulder towards Hakeem, and they haven't had any contact for ten years.
